About NoirFriendly
We started with a simple observation. Black Houstonians already know which places treat them well. That knowledge lives in group chats and Sunday conversations, and it deserves a front door.
What we believe
Recognition works better than complaint. A business that is told, in public and in specific terms, that it made people feel welcome tends to do more of it. A business that has never been told has no reason to change.
Dignity is measurable in small things: being greeted, being believed, being given a straight price. Our tags are built from those small things, in the words members actually use.
Open to everyone
NoirFriendly began with Black patrons and welcomes every reviewer and every business. If you felt respected somewhere, we want to hear about it, whoever you are.
Houston first
We launched in Houston in 2026 and are staying here until the community here says it works. Neighborhoods from Third Ward to Katy are in scope from day one.
How we are funded
NoirFriendly does not take money from businesses for recognition, placement, or guides. Businesses cannot buy a decal. We will always say plainly how we pay for the work.

Business names and addresses come from open data, credited on Credits.
